THE STAFF

ANITA

Company Role: Medical Assistant

Years with Dr. Searles: Roughly two decades

Relevant industry experience/accomplishments: I've been working in the medical field for over 20 years in addition to have an extensive work history in the insurance field. Previously certified as a medical coder.

What do you like about working for Dr. Searles: He's a good man as well as a great family man and I respect his Christian values. He's easy to work with and for. Our work staff is small and while sometimes its hectic the overall feel in the office is laid back and drama free. Even though we wear many hats I know he appreciates all we do to keep the office running.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working: I enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family. I love enjoy "the Alaskan life" and in the warmer months would rather be out camping/fishing/enjoying the out doors. When I cannot get out of town I tend my gardens and try to keep the moose from eating my apple trees.

Favorite quote/life motto: “It is what it is.”

KELLY

Office Role: Office Manager & Surgery Scheduler

Years with Dr. Searles: Over a decade

Relevant industry experience/accomplishments: With a background in medical coding and billing I am a certified coding associate (CCA). Being a CCA requires constant learning but allows me to work closely with our billing company on patient claims as well as have a better understanding of the insurance prior authorization process.

What do you like about working for Dr. Searles: Dr. Searles is a kind man and a skilled surgeon with a quiet, often dry, but quirky sense of humor. I also really appreciate that he’s relatively laid back with the office and doesn’t mind my ever-changing colorful hair!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working: I have a passion for all things creative! I love to draw, paint, craft & make costumes. When I am not making a mess in the computer/art room I enjoy a good book while being cuddled up with my pets or go on outdoor adventures in the warmer months.

Favorite quote: "A taste for irony has kept more hearts from breaking than a sense of humor, for it takes irony to appreciate the joke which is on oneself." - Jessamyn West
